Decoupled heat and charge rectification as a many-body effect in quantum wires

چکیده
We show that for a quantum wire with local asymmetric scattering potential the principal channels charge and heat rectification decouple renormalise differently under electron interactions, generally being more relevant. The polarisation of results from interference is tuneable through external gating. Furthermore, spin polarised or helical electrons sufficiently strong interactions regime can be obtained in which transport strongly rectified but very weak.

Molecular wires acting as quantum heat ratchets.
We explore heat transfer in molecular junctions between two leads in the absence of a finite net thermal bias. The application of an unbiased time-periodic temperature modulation of the leads entails a dynamical breaking of reflection symmetry, such that a directed heat current may emerge (ratchet effect). In particular, we consider two cases of adiabatically slow driving, namely, (i) periodic ...

متن کاملRadiative heat transfer: many-body effects
Heat transfer by electromagnetic radiation is one of the common methods of energy transfer between objects. Using the fluctuation-dissipation theorem, we have studied the effect of particle arrangement in the transmission of radiative heat in many-body systems. In order to show the effect of the structure morphology on the collective properties, the radiative heat transfer is studied and the re...
متن کاملWeak-localization and Rectification Current in Non-diffusive Quantum Wires
We show that electron transport in disordered quantum wires can be described by a modified Cooperon equation, which coincides in form with the Dirac equation for the massive fermions in a 1+1 dimensional system. In this new formalism, we calculate the DC electric current induced by electromagnetic fields in quasi-one-dimensional rings. This current changes sign, from diamagnetic to paramagnetic...
متن کاملCharge transport through single molecules, quantum dots and quantum wires.
We review recent progress in the theoretical description of correlation and quantum fluctuation phenomena in charge transport through single molecules, quantum dots and quantum wires. Various physical phenomena are addressed, relating to cotunneling, pair-tunneling, adiabatic quantum pumping, charge and spin fluctuations, and inhomogeneous Luttinger liquids. We review theoretical many-body meth...
